Ponchatoula Satanists to go on trial "sometime in 2006"
It’s very difficult to find any information on the imminent trial of the 7 people charged with involvement in child and animal abuse in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, (see my post “Recent Allegations of Satanic Ritual Abuse in the U.S.”) but one blogger (Professor Pan) has reported that the DA announced the case will go to trial “sometime in 2006”, and an article in the Baton Rouge Advocate confirms this.
Meanwhile, this bizarre and disturbing incident of alleged Satanic ritual abuse has received very little attention from the mainstream press in the U.S., and even reactionary Christian news sources seem to be ignoring it. A search of World Net Daily, for instance, turns up not one reference. Where are all the fundie Satanic Panic advocates who were crawling from the woodwork in the ’80s and early ’90s? Should we be grateful that no one is blowing Ponchatoula out of proportion…or should we be concerned that no one seems to care when a whole churchful of kids is possibly exploited?
